Price Includes:
All events and entertainment, one spectacular dinner meal each day, and more! Everyone also gets the usual one-of-a-kind promo items (T-shirt and a group photo specially designed by Antsy. Posters? Coconut bras? A commemorative can of Spam? Who knows what else?)
Live Entertainment Nightly!
Each fun-filled day will end with full band concerts featuring Antsy, The Trailer Park Troubadours, and local musical guests -- under the stars with the beach as our backdrop!
We'll start things off the first night with a Trailer Park Luau you won't soon forget, featuring The Troubs as well as some amazing local entertainment (details coming soon.) We'll have some great food, and our hosts Antsy and Polly will meet everyone and introduce the Flamingohead Family to each other. Spontaneous jams are likely to break out at various points during our stay. Bring your instruments!
We'll Get Together Each Morning...
Every morning (not too early) we'll gather together for breakfast at the Aston Aloha Beach Resort, and later in the lobby to discuss group excursions and other various activities available for that day. Then we'll explore Kauai's beautiful beaches, waterfalls and canyons before gathering together again for dinner. Antsy, Polly and members of the band will have info for tours and excursions each morning, and we'll group up accordingly. Kauai may be the smallest of the Hawaiian islands, but there is plenty to see. (Antsy's personal recommendation: taking a bike up the coast along the ocean-view bike trail to the light house. Breath taking! Polly's personal recommendation: Hiking the Waterfall trail at Wailua River State Park.)
Great Food!
Every night we'll have dinner together -- locally owned and catered food prepared by folks who know what island cuisine should taste like. Dinner is on us each night. During the day we're all on our own and can choose from a number of inexpensive eateries and fresh food markets where you can eat fruit picked that morning. And our favorite Hawaiian Shave Ice shack is only minutes away. (CORRECTION: Polly's favorite shave ice flavor is NOT mango and strawberry with vanilla ice cream as reported earlier. It's coconut/banana. Antsy was WAY OFF.)
Antsy will hand out a list of local, authentic food recommendations that will take you off the beaten path, where you can enjoy the island flavor, and avoid the food any of us can eat anytime on the mainland.
Tourism Tips
We strongly recommend buying this book and studying it cover-to-cover before getting to Kauai: The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook by Andrew Doughty, edited by our friend Jan Haag. It is a must have manual for exploring everything on Kauai, from beaches, to hikes, to food, to local history and customs. It's quite an extensive guide, and Antsy and Polly found it invaluable on their last trip to Kauai. Buy it on Amazon HERE.
Nice Hotels That Won't Hurt Your Wallet!
Antsy, Polly and the band will be staying at the Aston Aloha Beach Resort. It's a 2 minute walk to the beach, and has one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. The rooms are affordable ($85 - $135), clean and comfortable, with sliding glass doors that allow easy access to the beach from any first floor room. The lobby is wonderfully open, with the island breeze cooling you as you lounge in one of their many comfy chairs. Several computers with free WIFI are located in the lobby for our convenience, and the rooms have WIFI as well (Rates vary.) A fresh water pool is just outside, and roomy cottages are also available, complete with kitchenettes, that sleep 4 people comfortably. (Call hotel for availability.) Visit Aston Aloha's website HERE. But don't wait too long. Ocean view rooms will go fast!
NOTE: We looked into blocking rooms for our entire group, but it didn't provide us with any discounts and was actually more hassle than it was worth. Besides we realized some folks may want to stay elsewhere due to Rewards Points, personal preferences, etc., so we didn't want to lock anyone in to one place. We suggest booking rooms through Expedia.com or some other online outlet, as discounts are greater. (Make sure to read the fine print regarding restrictions and cancellations.) Other nearby hotels are Kauai Sands Hotel ($59 -$79), Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort (Check website for prices), and Kauai Beach Resort ($149 - $189). If you choose another hotel, we suggest going to their websites and reading their reviews.

Booking Your Flights:
Many folks we've talked with are coming early and/or staying later. That's fine. Before we leave the mainland, we'll make sure to get all field tripper's itineraries so we make sure to connect, and we'll let you know ours. Our first "official" event will be a meet and greet before the Trailer Park Luau on Thursday, Feb 23. Make sure you're at the Aston Aloha Beach Resort and ready to party by 5 PM.
Our last official event will be the concert on Sunday Night, Feb 26th. Most of us will likely be checking out of the hotel the following Monday morning, and heading to the airport with tired smiles on our sun-kissed faces. (Our neighbors and co-workers back home will be sooo jealous.)
Transportation:
You will likely want to rent a car (or at the very least, some mountain bikes) for shopping and sight seeing. There is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and while the Aston Aloha hotel is only a two minute walk from the beach, it is a long walk from shopping, restaurants, etc. But in a car, you are only minutes away from the downtown area, with shopping and restaurants a few miles up the road. And by bike, you're only 15 minutes away from the "downtown" action of Kapa'a.
Thanks for coming with us! This will be an amazing trip, and wonderful music and memories will be made.
